After a long, hot 6 weeks we were all ready together back into our routine at school. All the children have settled into year 3 wonderfully and were eager to get straight into their learning.
For English we have chosen, as a class, to study the fairytale Rapunzel. We are going to be reading and comparing 2 very different versions. The first being a version from Africa and the other, the traditional tale by Brothers Grimm.
One of our first tasks, was to perform the African version to the rest of our class. We decided to make the most of the glorious sun on our return to school, and the fabulous castle area in our school grounds to practise this activity. We agreed on the characters we wanted to perform in a very mature manner and were very supportive of each other.
I must say, Mrs Newton and I were astounded by the theatrical performances by all the children in the class, even the quieter ones showed their courage by performing to the whole class. As you can see from the pictures, the children embraced the task and carried it out with enthusiasm, confidence and fantastic speaking and listening skills. I definitely think this has been a hugely positive start to year 3 for all the children. A huge well done to you all.
