Libraries Week in Year 6

To celebrate Libraries Week, we enjoyed a visit to Gateshead Library on Monday. We were given a tour of the children’s section of the library, and reminded of the benefits of reading for pleasure. We found out how you can join the library, and take advantage of an online virtual library called BorrowBox once you are a member of Gateshead Library. We explored the children’s library through a game of Library Bingo and discussed how both fiction and non-fiction books are organised. Then we were given the opportunity to choose our own book to borrow from the library.

On Thursday afternoon, we welcomed our parents into school to visit the library. Due to the pandemic, this is the first time we were able to host our parents in school so it was very exciting to FINALLY show them our school library as well as the many fabulous books we have. It was great fun hunting for the golden tickets and sharing stories with our loved ones.
