In Science, our first topic has been animals including humans. Part of the topic has been learning about the various food groups, what they do to help our body and the amount of each food group we need daily. We have examined food diaries, drawn bar graphs to show our findings as well as learning scientific names for the bones and muscles in our bodies.
To complete the topic we had a food tasting session. Only healthy foods of course, and the children were able to identify the food groups the different items were from. The children are aware that they need to ensure they have a balanced diet to help keep fit and healthy, and the foods tested were all of the healthy variety containing either carbohydrates, fibre, vitamins and minerals and protein. The humous, couscous and figs were particularly popular, with the pickled onions, radishes and celery being less favoured.
Parents, you may get requests for some different food from normal on your shopping lists, this is why.
