This half term, our DT topic is called ‘Fairground Ride.’ We were challenged to research, design, make and evaluate a carousel with the below design criteria:
- To create a carousel toy that moves and spins.
- To create a carousel toy that is appealing for children.
- To create a carousel toy that is small enough to be held by children.
We designed our carousels, drawing cross-sectional diagrams and labelling all materials needed for the component parts. Then we created step-by-step instructions, thinking carefully about the method of making the carousel. This afternoon, we worked in groups to create our carousels, powered by a motor to make it spin. We believe that we were very successful in fulfilling the design criteria above.
