This morning, Year 5 visited the Chapel for the first time this year with Reverend Yvonne, to take part in a whole class communion service.
Reverend Yvonne said that 2 days ago on 16th September, was the 16th Sunday after Pentecost and that we celebrate the creation story during this time. We listened to a Bible reading that focused on John the baptiser, Jesus’ cousin. It told us how he is full of God’s spirits. We also found out that he was known to Jesus as ‘Elijah’, which means ‘the Elijah who was to come’, full of knowledge and wisdom. However, Jesus was always the chosen one; the anointed one, who came to save the world and everyone in it.
After the reading, we took out our St. Aidan’s communion books and listened to Reverend Yvonne continue with the service. We sang a hymn and gave thanks to God. During our prayer time, we prayed for peace in the world, our school, our teachers and each other. We then took part in receiving either a blessing or communion. We then finished off our service with a hymn.
We are looking forward to spending more time in the Chapel throughout the rest of the year.
