Science – The 5 Senses

In their Science lesson today, Year 1 focused on ‘The 5 Senses’.

We started the lesson off by going through each sense, learning their meaning and how we use each sense every day. The 5 senses are; taste, touch, hearing, sight and smell. For each sense, we completed an activity. For hearing, we listened to a particular sound and had to choose from multiple choice what the correct answer was. For sight, we looked around our school environment, talking about what we could see. For smell, Mr Stamp asked us to close our eyes as he walked around the room with different smells for us to guess what we thought the smell was. For touch, we placed our hands into a bag and had to try and find out what object was inside. For taste, we had to each taste a sweet and salty drink. We didn’t know which one was which, so they were very surprising when they touched our tongue! The salty drink made us pull funny faces, whereas the sweet drink made us want to drink more!
