Year 6 Collective Worship

On Friday, Year 6 led the whole school and their parents and loved ones in a collective worship focusing on the theme of welcoming everyone and celebrating diversity. We reminded children, teachers and parents of groups of people who had been discriminated against during Biblical times, such as those with leprosy, Gentiles, the Romans, the poor and disabled, even children! With Jesus’ incarnation, he treated everyone equally and showed Jewish people that for God, there are no outsiders in the kingdom of God when people have faith in him and live their lives free of sin.

We linked this to the Greatest Showman, loosely based on the life of PT Barnum who created the first travelling circus. In the film, he brought together a talented group of people who were considered to be outcasts in society. Over time, his audiences came to appreciate and celebrate the diversity of his performers. We enjoyed singing This is Me before leaving everyone with the message that at St Aidan’s, there are no outsiders and we welcome everyone. Well done Year 6!
