Collective Worship

Collective Worship demonstrates the Christian ethos and distinctiveness of the school, it is a celebration of all that we do in the name of God.

There is a planned, daily and ‘varied diet’ of worship including worship in church, in our chapel, in our school hall, in our outdoor learning area and in classrooms. Collective Worship is invitational, daily and focused on values underpinned by the teachings of Jesus. In each worship there is time for appreciation of music and art, through listening to music or singing and through observing and commenting upon artwork. Collective worship at St. Aidan’s is inclusive all children, staff and parents are offered opportunities to explore the relevance of teachings in today’s world and their input being valued during Collective Worship time.

An overview of a week of Collective Worship at St. Aidan’s is:

A well planned and delivered worship schedule ensures children have opportunities to grow spiritually and develop a knowledge and understanding of liturgical traditions and the Church year.

It’s a time for prayer and reflection. As a result, it is relevant, meaningful, inclusive and inspirational to both children and adults alike.

Our Collective Worship is enhanced by children knowing, saying and reflecting daily upon our unique school mission, school prayer and other associated prayers.

Each classroom has a dedicated worship space that demonstrates the liturgical colours and reflects the Collective Worship theme for the week, this is also mirrored in our school entrance. Showing the importance and value that being a Church of England school holds for our whole community.
