In English, we have been learning all about poetry. We discussed together what poetry is and why we write poems. As poetry is about expressing thoughts and feelings, we learnt and performed two poems, including ‘The Rhythm of Life’ by Michael Rosen and ‘Plum’ by Tony Mitton. The children came up with actions in order to remember the words of the poems. To celebrate writing, we performed the acrostic poems that we had written together in groups. The theme was ‘HAPPY’ and the children had to think of lots of words or phrases associated with this theme by considering how we can help to cheer someone up and make them happy. Miss Ho was certainly impressed with the fantastic poems we have wrote and the children being so confident in performing to the whole class. Take a look at the videos below of children in Year 2 being super performers!
