What a treat we had at St Aidan’s this week. We were fortunate enough to have a visit from The Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir all the way from Uganda. The choir, consisting of 9 young people aged 10-18 along with 3 teachers, spent the day with us and it is certainly a day we won’t forget for a long time!
The choir began our school day with a performance of joyous song and dance. The talent, passion and energy shone out from the young people and filled the room with smiles and awe. We were all truly blown away!
The rest of day was spent with some of our older children taking our special visitors on a tour of our school, sharing lunch and then an afternoon of singing, dancing, drumming and music with Year 5 and 6.

The Pearl of Africa Children’s Choir are currently on a 10 week tour in the UK to raise essential funds to ensure children in Uganda receive an education. Something we are fortunate enough to get for free. By welcoming them into our school, we helped to raise over £200, so thank you for your generosity in supporting such a worthwhile cause. The choir are performing in Gateshead again this Saturday at St Helen’s Church in Low Fell. So if you weren’t able to come along to see them in school, please go along to support them. You will not be disappointed! The details for the concert are below.
