In Year Four we have been studying ‘animals including humans’. During our time exploring the living things that inhabit our world, we have focused on the human digestive system.
This week we produced a replica digestive system in order to see how our bodies break down the food we eat, so that it can be absorbed into our bloodstream and used as energy.
In this investigation, we used orange juice to represent the acids in our stomach, crackers and bananas to represent the food we eat, a plastic bag as the stomach itself and tights to represent our intestines. We really enjoyed getting our hands dirty and using our resources to simulate how our digestive systems work.
