This week in Nursery we have celebrated Diwali, ‘The Festival of Light’, which we found out lasts for 5 days.
At the beginning of the week, we watched a story that revolves around Hindu deities, Rama and Sita, and their triumph over evil in the form of demon king, Ravana.
We then made diva lamps out of salt dough. Once cooked, we painted them and then decorated them with colourful and sparkly sequins. We placed a tea light in the middle of the lamp and then lit them whilst singing a Diwali song.
The children then took part in other activities across the week. These included practising their Squiggle movement ‘wiggle’, using black pens to draw and black paint to make Mehndi patterns and using colourful buttons to create a large Rangoli pattern.
