In Science, Year 4 have been learning about sound. This week the children learnt about the pitch of a sound. They know that pitch is how high or how low a sound is.
The children used a guitar to explore the different pitch of sounds the different strings create. They concluded that the lower sounds were made with thicker strings and the higher sounds were made with thinner strings. The children also discussed the different materials of the strings and the tension of the strings.
Following this, the children carried out an investigation to explore whether their findings applied to elastic bands. The children worked in small groups to investigate whether the thicker bands created a lower sound that the thinner bands.
