Every Thursday after school, Phil from Muddy Monsters is holding a Forest School club for children in Key Stage 2.
Usually, the children would be exploring Forest School in our school grounds, however, because of the weather in Gateshead today, it put a stop to our plans of making a fire and toasting marshmallows. Instead, Phil told us he had set up different activities in the Early Years yard for us to have fun with! The children were very excited to be able to explore as they hadn’t been in this yard since they were in Nursery and Reception.
They had lots of fun digging and making ‘mud hills’ in the messy mud area, they used water to make streams, built houses from foam bricks and made ‘chocolate mud soup’ in the mud kitchen.
It was so lovely to overhear 2 children from Year 6 talking about their memories of the Early Years yard with each other and their gorgeous friend who sadly passed away earlier this year; Christabel Maindidze. They commented on how the 3 of them would build obstacle courses in the yard. A wonderful memory that has and will always stay with them forever.
