Yesterday afternoon, Year 6 enjoyed a very enjoyable and chilly Forest School session led by Stomping Ground staff at Gateshead Riverside Park. We began by completing a mindfulness activity, being still, listening to and looking at the River Tyne and towards Newcastle city centre. Then we explored the Forest School site, discussing how to stay safe and assess any risks that may be present. We took part in a carousel of activities in groups, working in teams to create dens, using our creative talents to make things using natural objects such as cones and branches, and using spices and water to create paintings similar to that of Jackson Pollock. We also loved playing in the hammocks and on the swings with our friends. Finally, we ended the session by gathering around the campfire and sharing our knowledge of how to light a fire and fire safety.
