This week, Year 5 had the opportunity to visit a reformed synagogue located in Gosforth. Year 5 are currently learning about Judaism in their RE lessons and had excellent knowledge on the topic when questions were asked upon the visit. Our tour guide Linda educated us about the artefacts placed around the synagogue, explaining why and how they are used in the place of worship. Linda explained how the Torah is read from right to left in Hebrew and kindly read an extract from the Torah for us. Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the synagogue and have expanded their knowledge on the Jewish community and religion.
