Light Fantastic! Workshop at Centre for Life

In Science this half term, we are learning about light. Today we enjoyed an interactive workshop at the Centre for Life where we were able to take part in lots of experiments investigating light. First we learnt about Isaac Newton and how he was the first scientist to discover the spectrum of colours that white light can be split into using different prisms. We found out that a concave lens leads light to converge while a convex lens leads light to separate. Then we used mirrors to reflect a laser light around corners in a maze. Using liquid smoke helped us to see that light travels in straight lines.
