Year 2’s visit to Holy Island

What a fantastic day we had on Monday! Our visit to Holy Island was filled with awe and wonder as we visited an unknown destination. The children in Year 2 shouted with excitement as we saw Bamburgh Castle, which we had seen only weeks before, pass by the window. We then soon realised we were travelling even further!
As we turned right at the sign for Holy Island children quickly became very excited! We then crossed the causeway and the children couldn’t believe that when the tide was in this road could not be seen.
Once we arrived we took a visit to the wildlife watch hide, we stood for a little while , quiet and still we were lucky to see lots of different birds!
We then took a little walk and had lunch on the beach where we experienced real SANDwiches!
After lunch we took a walk to the watch tower where we looked down on the Priory and St Aidan statue, can you believe it, we even saw seals diving and dancing in the sea!
After we looked out at the views we went to St Cuthbert’s beach where we looked for beads and went rock pooling! We found lots of crabs, hermit crabs, mussels and wilicks. It was a little stony but we had a wonderful time.
At the end of the day we met with the rest of the school where Reverend Hannah lead us in a short service.
We really did have the most wonderful day!
