Today Year 1 went to Beamish to have a taste of what school life was like a long time ago. Th children found that there was a lot of similarities but also a lot of differences.The teachers were very strict and didn’t smile very much ,unlike the teachers they have today.The classrooms were very different and the children had to write with chalk on a slate board!They did a little bit of handwriting , maths and recited a poem.
The children decided that they much prefer St Aidan’s and not the scary, old school .
