During our first week in Year 6, we held our annual House Captain elections. On Tuesday, we discussed the roles and responsibilities of house captains at St Aidan’s, identifying the qualities needed to be successful. The children worked incredibly hard to write a speech and create their campaign posters. Then on Wednesday morning, they delivered their speeches to their peers, explaining why they believed that they should be elected. We discussed the British value of democracy, and learnt about how members of parliament and the Prime Minister are elected by the British people. Year 6 completed their ballot papers before placing them in a ballot box to be counted. Congratulations to the successful candidates! We are certain that they will be positive role models for all children at St Aidan’s’ and lead their houses brilliantly, showing the other children how to shine like lights in the world.
