On Thursday 2nd October, the children at St Aidan’s celebrated National Poetry Day by welcoming poet Michael de Souza, the creator of Rastamouse, into our school. We began the day with an interactive, whole-school assembly where we listened to, recited and performed aloud some of Michael’s brilliant poems… even the teachers got involved! Then Michael delivered workshops across the day with Years 3-6, where children used their knowledge of rhyme to write and perform their own humorous poems. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and our teachers were very impressed with their poetry writing skills!
