In History this half term, Year 3 are learning about how the Great Fire of Gateshead devastated the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside.
To begin the unit of learning, the children compared maps of the Newcastle and Gateshead Quayside at the time of the Great Fire in 1854 and now. The children were able to identify that there were more factories along the quayside then, there are more roads dur to increase in population and traffic, there are more houses today and more bridges that cross the river.
