On Friday morning in English, Year 5 began planning the writing of a formal letter. Our piece of writing this half term is based on ‘Shackleton’s Journey’.
The children are writing a letter, pretending to apply for a job on board Shackleton’s ship, ‘The Endurance’, to take part in an expedition to Antarctica.
We looked into the most important job roles on the ship, including: a surgeon, a captain, a navigator, a cook and photographer, referencing to Shackleton’s team. We discussed as a class which role we would like to apply for and why.
