’Think Good, Feel Good’ – Session 2

Yesterday afternoon, some children from Year 5 and 6 took part in session 2 of; ‘Think Good, Feel Good’.

At the start of the session, the group played a game of Pictionary as a warm up.

Hannah then showed us the ‘hot cross bun’ method, which shows us how our thoughts can affect how our body feels, before, during and after something happening. These feelings could show as; feeling sick, dizzy or sweating. We also learnt how our thoughts can affect our behaviour and how we respond to situations. After we completed a hot cross bun model, we then re-framed it and turned our thoughts into a positive.

We then looked at ‘stop and go thoughts’. Some of our thoughts are automatic like ‘the weather is freezing today’ or ‘what am I going to have for lunch?’. Sometimes these thoughts can have a positive or a negative impact on them. A go thought is a good thought and a stop thought, stops us from doing something we are feeling or want to achieve.

The session ended with us looking at ‘mind reading’ (what we think other people are thinking of us), ‘negative glasses’ (only seeing negative thoughts) and ‘dustbin lids’ (putting a lid on top of any negative thoughts we have). We discussed as a group some examples of when we have felt like we have been in any of these head spaces and situations.
