What a fabulous week we have had in Reception class celebrating ‘World Book Week’.
Earlier in the week, we were so excited to see our parents and carers in school. They came into our class to listen to us read stories. They also read stories to us along with our friends. We also had a visit from 2 people who work at Gateshead Library, who read us a story.
Today, we celebrated World Book Day 2026! We came dressed to school as our favourite book character. Some of the characters included; ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘Stick Man’ and ‘Little Red Riding Hood.’ We sat in a circle and listened to each other as we all described who we were dressed as and what book they are from. We enjoyed designing our own front cover of a book as our character and some of us even made a story book from scratch including words and lots of pictures. We tried incredibly hard with our phonics when we were writing! We also had a visit from Year 3 children, who came to read us a story. We enjoyed talking to them about what they were dressed up as too.
