In yesterday’s RSHE lesson, Year 5 focussed on ‘Healthy Me’, discussing how to keep our bodies healthy and the effects of what both smoking and alcohol can do to your body over time.
As a class, we talked about what we eat on a daily basis. Some of us said that for breakfast they eat food such as; Weetabix or porridge, whereas others said they have sugary cereal. We talked about how sugary breakfast cereals should be ate in moderation. We spoke about what we eat for tea at home. Some of us said that they have McDonald’s at least once a week, whereas others said they eat more home cooked meals than takeaways. We discussed the benefits of eating more healthy and keeping takeaways at a minimum, trying to only eat as a treat. The children also spoke about how sleep is an important factor to daily life. We said that sleeping as much as we can on a night can help us concentrate more at school as well keeping our bodies healthy.
We then moved onto talking about smoking and drinking alcohol. We discussed as a class what effects both of these can have on us, such as: developing cancer, wrinkles and breathing problems. We also talked about how peer pressure can create huge problems, especially from a young age.
