In Drawing Club last week, Reception class have been reading ‘The Flower’ by John Light.
“When Brigg discovers a book in the library labelled ‘Do Not Read’, he cannot resist taking it home. It leads him to an unexpected discovery, which brings brightness and beauty to the inhabitant of a previously dull and dismal world.”
Last week in class, we had also been incredibly busy completing different activities relating to ‘Spring’ and ‘Flowers’.
Outside in the garden, we used plant pots, soil, water and flower bulbs such as; daffodils and lillies, to plant our own flowers. We will take care of our flowers by making sure they receive sunlight and water. We also made potions and perfume in the mud kitchen, using mint leaves and flower petals. We used tea pots, pans and tools such as drainers to make our creations!
Inside, the children took on the role of ‘Spring’ cleaning the classroom. They also made flower gardens in the construction area and drew pictures of flowers, using real flowers as inspiration.
