This half term in DT Year 3 have been looking at pneumatic systems that use air pressure to make something more. We started by constructing various investigations using straws, syringes and balloons before designing a toy car for 7-9 year olds that included a pneumatic system.
After we had designed our toy cars, we worked in pairs to make them. We started by adding colour to the wheels and body of the car, thinking carefully about designs that would appeal to our target audience before adding wooden dowels to the body to create an axel. We then added the wheels and finally a balloon to finish the pneumatic system.
We had lots of fun testing out our cars and then evaluated them against our design criteria, thinking carefully about what was successful and what we would change next time.
