As part of our history topic on Crime and Punishment through time, we visited Newcastle Castle yesterday. We enjoyed a tour of the castle, first finding out about the history of the castle and its’ role as the sheriff’s court and prison during the medieval times. Then we took part in a workshop about Tudor crime and punishment, finding out about witch trials, trial by ordeal and jury and public executions.
