Clay Sculptures inspired by Barbara Hepworth

This half term, we are learning about the artist and sculptor Barbara Hepworth who uses clay, wood and metal to create abstract sculptures to be displayed in art galleries and natural spaces. Having researched her style using iPads and creating collages in our sketchbooks, we then sketched our own sculpture inspired by her. On Friday afternoon, we enjoyed using clay to create our own clay sculptures. We used cross-hatching and water to join different shapes together and used tools and our thumbs to smooth the surface of the clay.
