This half term, the children have been learning all about using floor robots and algorithms. Building on our previous topics, we revisited the idea that an algorithm is a clear set of instructions given to a computer to help it complete a task.
Working in teams, the children programmed our class Beebots to move around different maps. They began with simple commands such as forward, left, and right, before challenging themselves further by introducing reverse.
Once they had mastered controlling one robot, we increased the difficulty by adding another Beebot. This meant the children had to think even more carefully about their instructions, sequencing, and teamwork.
There was plenty of problem‑solving, team work and fun all while developing our thinking skills.
