In Science this week, we have been answering the question; ‘How is water transported in plants?’
We learnt that the roots are to anchor the plant and absorb nutrients and water from the soil.
For our investigation, we decided to observe celery stems. We looked at the stems using microscopes to look inside of the stem and noticed how the insides are wet and parts are smooth and bumpy. We then placed the stems into containers of water and food dye and made predictions of what we think will happen over time. A lot of us said that they think the stem of the celery will carry water up, causing the celery to turn the colour of the food dye (blue or red)
We will closely observe the celery stems until our next Science lesson, ready for us to finish our investigation in our books.
