What a fantastic start to the 2026-2027 academic year we have had at St. Aidan’s!
Nursery – We have welcomed back into Nursery some of our older friends, as well as some new starters this week. Our older Nursery children welcomed their new friends into school full of kindness, with lots of sharing skills. The children have enjoyed exploring inside their classroom, as well as outside, including a trip to the castle to play!
Reception – Our Reception class children have been settling into school each morning and enjoying having their lunch in the school hall. They have enjoyed meeting new friends and having lots of time to explore their new classroom.
Year 1 – In RE, the children looked at ‘The Creation Story’. The children watched a short video about how God created the world and what he created on each day. They then learnt a song to remind them of what God created on each day. The children then completed their book activity, sticking in pictures of God’s creations in order.
Year 2 – In Maths, the children recapped number bonds to 10. They also used tens and ones as practical tools to show numbers beyond 10.
Year 3 – The children completed an ‘All About Me’ poster to share with their new class teacher; Mrs Marshall.
Year 4 – The children have been working together as part of a team in their PE lesson, building up trusting relationships with each other by taking on different activities.
Year 5 – In Maths, the children looked at numbers up to 10,000. In their Music lesson with Mrs. Rogers, the children learnt a three part song.
Year 6 – In their Art lesson, the children in Year 6 drew their start of year self portraits. These will then be repeated at the end of the academic year to to show progression.
Well Done everyone! Keep up the outstanding effort and work!
