In their Music lesson this week, Year 1 focused on Musical Notes.
At the start of the lesson, like they always do, the children had a dance and sing to the song ‘Shake it off’ by Taylor Swift. They then appraised the song at the end talking about what they enjoyed about the song or what they disliked.
The children then listened to ‘Walt’s of the flowers’ from The Nutcracker, appraising this song also. Some comments included; ‘the instruments sounded loud and in parts fast’ and ‘the music made me feel confused because the it sounded like the instruments kept changing.’
For the main part of the lesson, Stuart explained that the children would be learning more about musical notes, in particular, minims, crochets and rests. Towards the end of the lesson, they also added in quavers. The children worked in groups creating their own music with the different notes.
