World Book Week in Year 5

This week in school, we have celebrated World Book Week.

On Monday, we visited Dunston Activity Centre’s library. The children explored the library, reading stories together with their friends. Mrs. Bullerwell read a couple of stories to the children including ‘Giraffes can’t dance’, which linked in with our current value of ‘courage’. The children were then able to each choose a book to bring back to school to read in class over the next few weeks.

Today, we celebrated World Book Day 2026. The children came into school dressed as their favourite book characters. Some of our characters included: Harry Potter and Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. We also visited our younger friends in Year 1 to read books together. Towards the end of the day, Mrs Bullerwell and Mrs Fraser did a class book swap, where Mrs Fraser came into our classroom to read one of her favourite books.
