This morning in Reception class, we were so excited to hear that we would be taking part in ‘Bikaebility’. We were greeted by Richard, who told us that he would be teaching us some bike skills on balance bikes.
First, we put on our helmets and Richard adjusted the seats on our bikes. He then said we could have some freestyle riding around the yard. The children then rode the bikes to the top of the yard and Richard showed us how to push off and lift our feet off the floor. They then used coloured cones to play a game where the children had to listen to instructions from Richard that they had to follow on their bikes. Richard then placed cones in a large circle, and the children had to ride around the circle making sure they didn’t ride on top of the cones. Richard then added in a limbo bridge, where the children had to duck under each time they rode around. The limbo stick was lowered each time to make it harder. Richard then added in a double ramp for the children to ride up and down.
The children all had a great time riding their bikes and learning new skills!
