In our PE lessons this half term the children in Year 5 are learning the rules and skills of cricket.
This week, in groups of 4, they played a warm up game involving 6 cones and 3 balls, where they had to accurately place the ball on the opposite side of each cone, developing co-ordination skills with their eyes and hands. Once every child had a turn, the whole group had to sit down. The fastest team were the winners!
During the main teaching, they remained in groups of 4 where 1 person was a batsman, 1 was a baller and the remaining 2 were fielders. The baller would perform an underarm throw of the ball to the batsman who’d then bat the ball for the fielders to catch.
We showed excellent team work and sportsmanship!
