Our topic in our Music lessons this half term is; ‘Elements of Music’.
At the start of today’s lesson, Stuart asked the children in Year 1; ‘What does the word Music mean?’ Some comments included; ‘It makes us dance’, ‘It’s sometimes loud’ and ‘We can sing’.
Stuart then played the song ‘Can’t stop that feeling’, where the children had time to express themselves with dancing and singing.
We then sat on the carpet and used one of our fingers to follow a piece of music on a string, before creating music with our hands, which included; clapping and tapping.
We then listened to some high pitched and low pitched music and had to decide whether the music was moving fast or slow and if it sounded grumbly low or squeaky high.
At the end of the lesson, the children looked at pieces of music that were happy and sad, before lying down on the carpet, finishing with some calm, relaxing music, ready for their next lesson to start.
