Following on from Mrs. Lain’s collective worship in the hall this morning, the children in Year 1 continued looking at the theme of ‘love’ this afternoon in class.
Mrs. Gourley read the story ‘Guess how much I love you’ by Sam McBratney, which follows the story of Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nurbrown Hare who try to measure and express the immense scale of their love for each other. She then told the children that they would each have a piece of paper with a red heart in the centre. The children had to talk to their peers and draw at least things they love. Some of the children’s comments included; family members, school, food and favourite toys. The children then sat in a circle and discussed why we had drawn these images.
At the end of the lesson, we sang the song ‘Jesus love is very wonderful’, which made us think about Jesus’ unconditional love for all of us, as well as our unconditional love for others and objects around us.
