What a fantastic day we had on Thursday this week with our winter Interhouse Sports Day. Our children were able to get warmed up in the cold weather with some super active learning.
This term, we focused the day on learning all about ‘The World Cup’ – with the final this Sunday, many children were fully engaged in the topics and were excited to learn about top sporting footballers like Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe who will go head to head in the final.
We also looked at the origins of the tournament in younger years along with football heroes in women’s football with Year 6 as they researched Jill Scott the lioness Euro winner (you might know the name from a more recent TV program however).
Along with the research topic our children got active in school, joining in with cosmic yoga, boxercise classes, water polo competitions at Gateshead leisure center and even building outdoor adventure courses or running mini-mile marathons. In all, it was another show of resilience, engagement, communication and perseverance by our children. WELL DONE ST. AIDANS!
