Working as historians with historical sources of information

We looked at a range of historical sources in groups, including a map of occupied Europe, a speech from Winston Churchill, Adolf Hitler’s orders to his military generals and a first-hand recount of a soldier at Dunkirk. We worked as historians to make inferences in order to reach a conclusion to the following question:

How serious was the risk of Nazi invasion of Great Britain in 1940?

We discussed what each historical source could tell historians about the past and explored the reliability of the sources by discussing who had written each source and when, as well as if there could be any reason for bias in what was said/written.
