This week has been Safety Week and on Tuesday, we visited Safety Works. We have learnt how to keep ourselves safe, including E-safety, fire safety, staying safe near the water and at railway stations.
Today, we took part in a first aid workshop. First, we discussed how we should react when we see someone who is unconscious on the floor. We worked in groups to act out a scenario and ensured that we carry out safety checks by gently shaking the person and shout for help. We also discussed together the importance of knowing our full address as this can help us for when we ring 999 for emergency services. After, we learnt how to put someone into the recovery position, following these four principles: ‘Arm to space, hand to face, pull on knee and roll to me’. Matt also showed us how to use a bandage to wrap around the wound.
