Year 6 Holy Island 2023

Year 6 had a fantastic time last week on their residential trip to Holy Island. From day one they were immersed in the beauty of the island but had to get down to the gritty tasks of making beds (perhaps for the first time) and learning about how to keep the SVP camp tidy for the week. Throughout the course of the week, they walked the beautiful island, enjoyed a pilgrimage to St. Cuthbert’s island, visited the priory, Farne isles and castle. However, I think all they children really enjoyed visiting the beaches of the island most. It was at these moments they were at their best, running into the sea, climbing up and down the sand dunes and relaxing in the natural environment. It was a trip they will no doubt have many memories to treasure for the rest of their lives. Along with making new friends from St. Mary’s and St. Thomas Aquinas, they also were strengthening their own friendships. The camp staff and members of the public commented on their polite manners and behaviour. Well done Year 6.
