In geography this half term, Year 3 are learning about their local area.
The children have developed an understanding of how our local area fits into the wider world. They know that; our town is Gateshead, our region is the North East, our country is England and our continent is Europe.
The children have then considered the differences between urban and rural areas, identifying that The Teams is an urban area.
Today the children went for a short walk around the immediate vicinity of school. Back in the classroom, the children looked at Google Maps and an Ordnance Survey map to locate some of the buildings we spotted today. They were finally challenged to draw their own sketch map.
