Friendship Week in Reception

In Reception class, the children have celebrated Friendship Week. They thought about the special friends they have and what it means to be a good friend.

On Friday during RSHE, the children listened to the story ‘Blue Chameleon’. Blue Chameleon is very lonely and has no friends. The children noticed that as Blue Chameleon meets new friends, he changes his appearance to try to look like them. They thought that perhaps Blue Chameleon thinks he has to look like someone to be their friend. The children shouted loudly to tell Blue Chameleon that appearances aren’t important and you don’t have to look the same to be friends. Everyone was delighted when Blue Chameleon finally heard them!

The children then identified many differences between two friends and there were lots!

The children were all able to remember that appearances are not important because you don’t have to look the same to be friends.
