Holy Island

Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Holy Island, creating lasting memories together on their final school trip.

The children spent time exploring the fascinating ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, founded by St. Aidan, where they discovered not only the priory itself but also the living quarters where the monks once lived, cooked, and slept before the Viking invasion.

The children had great fun on the beach, paddling in the sea, rock pooling, and playing in the sand before enjoying a picnic with their friends.

Afterwards, they walked across to St. Cuthbert’s Island for a special whole-class collective worship. Together, they prayed, reflected on their journey through St. Aidan’s, shared memories of their time together, and gave thanks for the friendships they have made. Each child created a beautiful cross using sticks and wool; some chose to leave their cross on the island as a symbol of their reflections, while others took theirs home as a treasured keepsake of their final trip together.

To round off a wonderful day, the children loved visiting the gift shop to choose a souvenir before beginning the journey back to school, bringing home many happy memories of a truly special experience.
