Our First Week in Year 2…

What a wonderful first week back we have had in Year 2!

At the start of the week, we re-capped our school rules and came up with some extra classroom for us to follow for the rest of the year. We then talked about our school value; lights. We spoke about what each value means to us and discussed how we can show this value to each other.

Here are some of the activities we have been up to this week:

Maths – We have been representing numbers from 1-20 using base ten, words and part-whole models.

English – We have been reading ‘Red Riding Hood’. We took on roles from the story and acted them out in a drama lesson.

RE – We talked about why the Bible is important and then created our own Bible front covers.

Handwriting – We have been practicing writing in school script all week! Our handwriting skills are growing every single day.

Computing – We learnt about how to say safe on the internet whilst using iPads and computers.

Art – We all drew our self-portraits, taking care of features such as; our eyes, lips and hair.

We are really excited for the rest of the year to find out what other topics we will be covering.

At the start of school day today, we watched a video about the life of Queen Elizabeth. We discussed the important events and years of her life and why she was special to our country.
