Remembrance

In Nursery this week the children have been learning about why we wear poppies at this time of year. We watched the cartoon ’Poppies’ from cbeebies to help us begin to understand why we remember the fallen soldiers every November. The children enjoyed using their fine motor skills to make dotty poppies with cotton buds and paint and made beautiful poppy artwork by mark making and printing.

In RE this half term we are learning about special people. We thought about special people in school and agreed that our friends in Reception class are special because ’they are kind to us’ and ’they play with us outside’. We learnt that is it nice to show thanks to special people so we decided to decorate biscuits to share with Reception class. We used red icing and chocolate chips to make poppy biscuits. It was wonderful to see the smiles on the children’s faces when we shared the biscuits. Of course, we made sure there were enough for us too!
