Maths Challenge Day – The Tomb of Genghis Khan

On Friday afternoon last week, 4 children from Year 6 walked down to Riverside Academy Primary School to take part in a Maths Challenge Day called ‘The Tomb of Genghis Khan.’

We were greeted by Mrs Johnson who told the children how the afternoon was going to work. She explained for each activity, if the children answered the challenge correctly, they’d win the amount of coins that was allocated for that challenge. She asked us, as a team, if we could complete 21/28 out of the challenges! This sounded like a huge challenge, but we really wanted to impress! Some of the activities included; jumbled up prime number grids, cross squares, sealed solutions, pack the crate, tangrams, missing keys and shape puzzles.

The children worked in pairs throughout the afternoon and used their fantastic Maths knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout school to answer each challenge.

We all managed to complete 24 out of 28! We were so proud of ourselves!

Well Done Year 6!
