Year 5 visit Kingsmeadow

Year 5 had great fun on their taster day at Kingsmeadow Comprehensive School. Their first lesson was science with Mr Fenwick where they looked at physical and chemical changes. They watched a chemical change where the clear liquids potassium iodide and lead nitrate were mixed together and changed to yellow in colour. Then they were wowed by two solids turning into a liquid when mixed, they even froze water! The final experiment recreated what happens when a rocket takes off. We were left with the thought, Science is not knowing everything, we learn from getting things wrong.

Next we had English and were taught by Mrs Burns. We became detectives, thinking of our detective names and designing logos before discussing what skills a detective would need – good at problem solving, stealthy and resilient were some suggestions. We were then given clues and had to predict what the poem might be about.
